Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, professions, or economic standings, one should learn about women’s suffrage movement as it impacted nearly every human being on the planet. The questions the resolve around women is still impacting today’s lives. Why women were not automatically granted the same voting rights as men? Why did the U.S. Constitution specifically said "All men are created equal" excluding the mothers who gave birth to the founding fathers and wives who faithfully stayed behind their husbands? Can you imagine the society a century ago where women were deemed inferior and even had no financial support if her marriage was broken? These questions and answers are as important as the achievements these suffragists done some 100 years ago. The purpose of this website is to educate the general public about women’s suffrage and how and why women today have the privilege to vote and be heard on courts and government bodies that were traditionally filled by men.
Imagine a hundred years ago, where traditional gender roles were firmly enforced, men were to work and women were to take care of the home. During the first wave of feminism, many women all across the nation started asking questions that have no answers as they were unsatisfied by problems. Because of suffragists’ effort to push for amendment that granted women as a whole to be heard through the right to vote and participate in politics, societies begin to see the different sides of women. Thanks to the continuous struggles of women’s suffrage that lasts decades, women today are privileged and enjoy the same inalienable rights as their counterparts. Women are now in a generally modern era of complacency state of mind as the number of female political players grows, and economic standings for women improves, despite stereotypes and certain limitations for women still remain.
